Sermon: Do Not Steal
Scripture: Exodus 20:15 (HCSB)

1. What is stealing?
2. Why is stealing wrong?
• God owns everything (Psalm 50:10-12)
• God is trustworthy (Matthew 6:33)
• Stealing is selfish (Ephesians 4:28)
3. How can we be set free for generosity?
• The testimony of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10)

Questions for Reflection and Quiet Time

1) When is a time you have stolen something and why? What was the wrong motivation behind the theft?

2) How does the Gospel, what Jesus did for us in His life, death, burial, and resurrection, change our desires from selfishness to generosity?

3) How does a generous heart glorify God?

4) Where has God opened up an opportunity for you to be generous? Name something specific.

5) Zacchaeus showed his repentance (to change one’s mind) from theft in specific ways. Is there something specific you should do in repentance to show how you have turned to Jesus from stealing?
